About

The Register's Reason for Being

Beauty advice and accessory advice usually live in separate rooms. This register puts them on the same vanity, alongside the brushes, pouches and cloths that hold a routine together.

What we believe

A routine works best when every object in it has a reason to be there. We write for readers who want to coordinate makeup with the accessories they already own, keep their kit easy to use, and look after the things that touch their skin — without being nudged to buy more.

We avoid suggesting that any product improves a person's worth, and we do not make health claims we cannot support. Where a question belongs to a pharmacist, GP or dermatologist, we say so.

How we write

Each guide is drafted, checked against public sources such as EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, REACH restrictions, UK hallmarking guidance and airport security rules, then reviewed for clarity. We correct errors promptly; if you spot one, please leave a note.

  • Restrained
